Brian Snyder, Senior IT Operations Manager at Legence, has been with the business for nearly 19 years. Based in the Washington, D.C. area, he started his career at VarcoMac LLC and then transitioned to Legence two and a half years ago. Brian joined VarcoMac as an assistant project manager, then learned construction from the ground up, moved through project management, estimating, safety, and eventually into Information Technology (IT).

Ken Pickett, Vice President of Operations at A.O. Reed & Co., began his career in the Army and then entered the trades at 33 years old.

Ten years ago, Josh Fair left his stable, well-paying job, and built Innovative Mechanical & Design (IMD) from the ground up. When he began the company, he had “a truck, some ambition, and the possibility of a great team.” Josh is now the President of IMD, a Legence company in Northern Colorado that provides mechanical and construction services for commercial, industrial, and institutional facilities.

Paula Guffey, Electrical Engineer at CMTA, started as a draftsperson in the mid-1980s, where she drew by hand before today’s digital tools were the norm. While in that role, she learned how to translate building systems into technical drawings and developed a practical understanding of electrical systems design, which included fire alarm, lighting, and power. Paula has been a lifelong proponent of learning, saying, “your knowledge is your power.” This foundational experience set the stage for her career transition from electrical engineering, to learning more about mechanical and plumbing design, and grew into project management.
