Position Overview

Therma is seeking a motivated Mechanical Engineer I to join our Engineering team. This position is ideal for a recent Mechanical Engineering graduate or early-career engineer who is interested in HVAC, piping, plumbing, process systems, and design-build project delivery.

As an Engineer I, you will work alongside experienced engineers, project managers, field teams, estimators, and detailers to support the design and construction of complex commercial, industrial, advanced technology, and mission-critical facilities. This role is focused on learning the profession, developing technical skills, and building the foundation for a successful engineering career within Therma.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist with HVAC, piping, plumbing, and process system design under the direction of senior and principal engineers.
  • Perform basic engineering calculations, including airflow, duct sizing, pipe sizing, equipment schedules, and load calculations.
  • Support development of engineering drawings, Revit models, schedules, and project documents.
  • Incorporate review comments and redlines accurately and in a timely manner.
  • Maintain organized project files and documentation.
  • Participate in coordination with project management, VDC/detailing, estimating, and field teams.
  • Support responses to RFIs, submittals, and engineering questions as assigned.
  • Learn applicable codes, standards, and Therma design-build practices.
  • Communicate proactively when information is unclear, incomplete, or may impact schedule or deliverables.

 

Qualifications

Required

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or related engineering discipline.
  • Strong interest in building systems, HVAC, piping, plumbing, process systems, or design-build construction.
  • Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or other Cad software.
  • Strong problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications.

Preferred

  • Internship, research, laboratory, construction, fabrication, or engineering project experience.
  • Engineer-in-Training (EIT) certification or ability to obtain shortly after hire.
  • Experience working on team-based engineering or design projects.
  • ASHRAE student chapter, AFE, ASME, or similar extracurricular engineering involvement.

  • Contribute positively to project teams while building technical, constructability, and coordination knowledge.

 

Base salary: $95,000-$110,000 per year.
