Job Summary:

This position will be responsible for providing on-site coordination and leadership for all phases of construction projects including coordinating subcontractors, material and equipment, ensuring that specifications are strictly followed, and work is proceeding on schedule and within budget. The Site Superintendent will oversee project completion to ensure client expectations are met. This position will work to build a successful internal team and lasting relationships with owners, subcontractors, and clients. The Site Superintendent will coordinate site activities and serve as a problem solver to ensure projects are completed to a high standard.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Provide field leadership and effectively coordinate all on-site construction activities, trade partners, materials, equipment, and site personnel.
  • Lead safety management efforts and ensure company policies, project requirements, specifications, and applicable codes are followed to maintain a safe and compliant work environment.
  • Coordinate trades and resolve construction and site issues promptly to support productive, uninterrupted field operations.
  • Manage quality control activities, verify that work conforms to the contract documents, and lead pre-installation meetings for critical scopes of work.
  • Execute the project schedule, drive milestone achievement, identify long-lead coordination items, and develop and manage four-week look-ahead schedules.
  • Coordinate site phasing, logistics, access, deliveries, temporary facilities, and other general conditions required for efficient project execution.
  • Maintain detailed daily documentation of site activities, manpower, progress, safety matters, deliveries, inspections, constraints, and significant events.
  • Lead weekly foreman meetings and bi-weekly construction meetings with the design team, documenting decisions, action items, and required follow-up.
  • Review shop drawings and navigate drawings, specifications, RFIs, and submittals through Procore to support field coordination and installation.
  • Track RFIs, identify field questions and design conflicts, and coordinate timely responses with the design team.
  • Coordinate required inspections with the Township, other governmental authorities, and third-party inspection agencies.
  • Perform constructability reviews during preconstruction and provide field input regarding front-end specifications, logistics, phasing, scheduling, safety, quality, and execution requirements.
  • Assist with pay application reviews by evaluating the completion percentage of work in place.
  • Assist in reviewing change events, including field conditions, scope, schedule impacts, labor, materials, and supporting documentation.
  • Distribute workload effectively and manage a collaborative project team without direct supervisory authority.
  • Communicate proactively and professionally with the internal project team, architects, engineers, subcontractors, owners, clients, and other stakeholders.
  • Support management of the project budget and on-site general conditions within established project controls.
  • Responsible to be onsite when Contractors are present.  Occasionally after hours and weekend work may be required.  Supervisors will assign this work as necessary.
  • Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Addresses varied and sometimes unpredictable challenges using experience, sound judgment, and established practices. Evaluates available information, sets priorities, coordinates with others, and develops practical solutions appropriate to the situation. 

Supervision Required:

Works independently within broad objectives established by the supervisor. Routine responsibilities and day-to-day decisions generally do not require direct oversight. Strategic matters, significant exceptions, and issues requiring broader organizational direction are referred to the supervisor.

Decision-Making Impact:

Exercises independent judgment to assess needs, analyze problems, and adapt broad guidelines to achieve desired outcomes. Recommends improvements to policies, procedures, and work practices while escalating exceptions as appropriate. Decisions and recommendations may affect the department, other departments, the organization, and external stakeholders.

Work Complexity:

Manages multiple, diverse responsibilities that span related processes and require the application of various procedures, policies, and operational requirements.

Supervisory Responsibilities:

This position will not directly supervise.

Qualifications (Education, Experience, and Licenses/Certifications required):

  • Minimum 5 years of experience in commercial construction.
  • Degree in related field preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proven ability to stay organized and punctual.
  • Experience and common knowledge of overall construction processes.
  • Proven ability to be personable and work well on a team.
  • Proficiency in Procore and Microsoft Office products or ability to learn and become proficient.  Proficiency in this software is critical to the success of this role.
  • Proven ability to maintain excellent integrity and ethical standards within role.

Physical Requirements:

This position will require regular climbing/balancing, reaching with arms, crouching/crawling, and lifting/carrying objects weighing over 20lbs. Frequent sitting, standing, walking, talking, hearing, feeling/touching, and vision will be required.
