Therma is seeking a motivated, detail-oriented Mechanical Engineering / Process Engineering Intern to join our team in San Jose, California. This is a hands-on, in-office opportunity to gain real-world experience in mechanical construction engineering. The ideal candidate is pursuing a degree in Mechanical Engineering or Construction Management, brings strong communication and problem-solving skills, and thrives in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Support Mechanical and Process Engineers with the planning, design, analysis, and execution of engineering projects.
Assist in conducting engineering calculations, data analysis, and technical evaluations to support project design and decision-making.
Research industry standards, codes, equipment specifications, and best practices applicable to project work.
Prepare technical reports, project documentation, calculations, and presentations for internal and client use.
Assist with the development and review of engineering drawings, plans, and specifications utilizing AutoCAD and other engineering software.
Support the design and development of HVAC, plumbing, piping, utility, and process systems under the guidance of licensed engineers.
Participate in field visits, site assessments, and construction observations to gain practical project experience and verify design implementation.
Assist with equipment selection, system sizing, and preparation of technical documentation and operating procedures.
Coordinate with project teams, vendors, contractors, and other stakeholders to gather information and support project execution.
Research products, materials, and equipment options and communicate with manufacturers and vendors regarding technical specifications.
Review and organize project data, drawings, and documentation while ensuring accuracy and attention to detail.
Contribute to project meetings, team discussions, and problem-solving activities while developing professional engineering skills.

Educational Background Requirements & Eligibility

The internship program is open to students pursuing a bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Process Engineering, Chemical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline. Candidates must have completed at least two years of undergraduate coursework at an accredited college or university.

A valid driver's license is required. Candidates may be required to complete pre-employment drug screening when required by client or project-specific requirements.

Required Competencies & Qualifications

Minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 preferred.
Strong analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking abilities.
Excellent written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills.
Ability to work effectively in both team-based and independent environments.
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple assignments and meet deadlines.
Demonstrated initiative, curiosity, and willingness to learn.
Positive attitude with a collaborative, team-oriented approach.
Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Exposure to AutoCAD, Revit, SolidWorks, or other engineering design software is preferred.
Ability to interpret technical information, engineering drawings, and specifications.
Interest in consulting engineering, building systems, industrial/process systems, or related engineering fields.
