Summary:
We are seeking a detail‑oriented Payroll Clerk to provide support with manual timecard processing and data entry for Union construction payroll. This role is critical during high‑volume payroll periods and focuses on reviewing, correcting, and entering timecards received in multiple formats. The ideal candidate thrives in fast‑paced environments, has a sharp eye for discrepancies, and can resolve issues quickly and accurately.

This is a part-time, temporary position for approximately 20 hours/week. It is a remote position working Eastern time zone hours. Central or other time zones are acceptable if the candidate is able to work required hours.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ability to accurately key in high volumes of data quickly while maintaining exceptional attention to detail.
  • Timecards are received in various formats (Excel, emails, PDF, etc.). Must be able to remain organized while processing timecards.
  • Prior to each entry, review timecards for accuracy. Identify and resolve timecard discrepancies such as missing hours, incorrect rates, missing job codes, or formatting issues.
  • Communicate questions or discrepancies promptly to payroll or operations teams for clarification.
  • Follow established payroll policies, procedures, and deadlines
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information at all times
  • Support payroll team with additional administrative tasks as needed

Required Skills & Qualifications:

  • Experience processing manual or multi‑format timecards
  • Prior experience in payroll, timekeeping, or high‑volume data entry
  • Exceptional attention to detail with strong data entry skills and the ability to maintain speed without sacrificing accuracy
  • Ability to quickly identify errors and resolve issues independently, with sound judgement in knowing when to escalate issues
  • Comfortable addressing issues with employees and/or managers while maintaining a strong customer service approach
  • Ability to follow instructions, meet deadlines, and adapt to changing priorities
  • Strong organizational and time‑management skills
  • Intermediate proficiency of Microsoft products, such as Outlook, Excel, SharePoint, and Word
  • Experience with payroll or timekeeping systems

Preferred Experience:

  • Experience with Viewpoint Spectrum or similar construction payroll software
  • Familiarity with construction payroll or similar union payroll concepts

Work Schedule:

  • Part-Time, approx. 20hrs. Remote, Eastern time zone.
  • Central time zone is acceptable if available to work requested hours.
  • Some flexibility needed based on business need, but standard schedule is outlined as follows:
    • Friday 7 AM - 4 PM (EST)
    • Sunday 1 PM - 4 PM (EST) (flexible)
    • Monday 7 AM - 4 PM (EST)
