Service Manager – HVAC/R

Salary: $120,000 - 140,000 (depending on experience)

 

IMD is seeking an experienced Service Manager – HVAC/R to lead and support our HVAC/R Service Technician team based in Windsor, Colorado. This role is responsible for managing day‑to‑day service operations, developing and supporting technicians, and ensuring high‑quality service delivery to our customers across commercial and industrial environments.

The Service Manager serves as the primary leader for the service team—balancing people leadership, customer relationships, operational planning, and hands‑on technical oversight.


Key Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and manage a team of HVAC/R Service Technicians, ensuring safe, efficient, and high‑quality service execution
  • Serve as a technical and operational escalation point for complex service issues, customer concerns, and field challenges
  • Oversee daily service operations, including work prioritization, scheduling coordination, and workload management across multiple jobs and accounts
  • Partner with customers, project teams, and internal leadership to ensure alignment on scope, timelines, and expectations
  • Support technician development through training, mentoring, performance feedback, and skills progression
  • Maintain accountability for service quality, customer satisfaction, and adherence to IMD safety standards
  • Review and support service documentation, job reporting, and accurate transfer of field data
  • Foster a strong team culture focused on professionalism, accountability, safety, and customer service
  • Ensure company tools, vehicles, and equipment are properly used, maintained, and accounted for
  • Support hiring, onboarding, and ramp‑up of new service technicians as the team grows

Technical & Leadership Expertise

The ideal candidate will bring both hands‑on HVAC/R experience and people leadership capability, including working knowledge of:

  • Commercial HVAC systems including packaged A/C, large tonnage VAV units (up to 120 tons), and VRF systems
  • Boiler systems (maintenance, annuals, and repairs)
  • Water pumps, motor bearings, pump seal replacement, and water flow principles
  • Chilled water and hot water loop systems
  • Air‑side airflow and distribution troubleshooting

Leadership & professional skills:

  • Proven experience leading and motivating field‑based technicians
  • Strong customer relationship and communication skills
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities, projects, and service demands simultaneously
  • Professional judgment in fast‑paced service environments

Operational & Physical Expectations

  • Ability to work in commercial and industrial job sites
  • Comfortable supporting field work, site walks, and occasional hands‑on troubleshooting as needed
  • Ability to climb ladders, work at elevated heights, and lift up to 50 lbs
  • Flexibility in schedule; occasional overtime and/or weekend work may be required

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent (technical/trade school preferred)
  • Significant prior HVAC/R service experience required
  • Previous supervisory or people‑management experience strongly preferred
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong customer service background
  • Basic computer skills; familiarity with Microsoft Office preferred
