Seeking a Senior Project Engineer for plumbing/fire protection, managing complex projects with minimal supervision and providing technical leadership.

Title: Senior Project Engineer

Trade: Plumbing/Fire Protection

Level: 4-6

Reports to: Group Leader

 

Position Overview:

AMA Group is looking for a senior plumbing and fire protection engineer to work on a variety of projects, from large to small, providing technical expertise in plumbing design. You will represent AMA in all interactions with clients, contractors, architects, and other project team members. Your title within the company will be Senior Project Engineer 

 

This role is a career-level position which requires minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgement. You will be responsible for complex projects important to the organization, and contribute to team and organizational objectives

 

Requirements:

As a senior plumbing engineer, you will be knowledgeable of systems design and communicate design concepts via sketches and renderings. In your role you will:

  • Design plumbing and fire protection systems including domestic water systems, sanitary drainage and vent systems, storm drainage systems, pumping systems, natural gas distribution systems, special fire suppression systems including clean agent (gaseous) systems
  • Perform plumbing and fire suppression system selections, prepare preliminary designs, and create performance specifications
  • Consult on areas such as the preparation of existing facility diligence, sustainability analyses, and feasibility reports
  • Incorporate design changes using AutoCAD and Revit software
  • Perform design calculations; design plumbing systems to requirements of individual state and local municipality codes; produce documentation consistent with client requirements and standards specific to each project
  • Perform other duties as assigned 

 

Education: Bachelors degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline required; PE highly preferred


Experience:

  • Minimum 4 years of experience in plumbing and fire protection systems design; management experience is highly desired
  • Working knowledge of building codes and standards, drafting standards, plumbing engineering standards, and other trades
  • Working knowledge of the various applications of plumbing systems 
  • Demonstrable understanding of construction process and interpretation of construction drawings
  • Advanced knowledge of AutoCAD and Revit
