Position Overview

CMTA is hiring a Senior Federal Project Manager who is responsible to anticipate client needs and be a proactive project site lead while serving as a main point-of-contact for clients and working on the client’s behalf. This position ensures that assigned projects are successful by working with Federal contracting agents and end users, contractors, partners, and internal team in following standards, practices, and schedules that result in value-added projects being on schedule, on budget and ultimately forming lasting relationships with our customers.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manages the entire planning, design and construction process from strategic planning and pre-design through closing out of large and small scale Federal projects.  Projects can range from $1 million to $300 million.
  • Creates and successfully maintains project budget and schedule.
  • Ensures successful delivery method for construction projects.
  • Successfully manages all pre-project planning including but not limited to:
    1. States measurable objectives for the project and ensures project team members have strong understanding of roles and responsibilities
    2. Successfully implements contractual administration
    3. Ensures risk management and general understanding of project risks, solutions, and applicable laws and standards.
  • Successfully communicates and coordinates on-site project team, internal team, contractors, vendors, schedule, owner correspondence, client-relations, drawing management, approvals, materials, and deliveries.
  • Productively communicates and regularly interacts with owner end users and contracting officers.
  • Effectively builds strong team environment.
  • Attends and runs project meetings with necessary stakeholders and/or project team.
  • Ensures successful management of project by reviewing submittals, change orders, and Dr Checks RFIs for conformance and ensuring budgets are within project scope and necessary invoicing takes place.
  • Provides innovative problem solving to issues and project challenges.
  • Effectively manages ongoing contract and agreement preparation, review, and execution.
  • Tracks, reports, and documents value engineering options.
  • Ensures quality management by referencing and understanding industry codes, regulations, materials, and which items require inspection and testing and creates corresponding documentation and tracking per project procedures. Ensures necessary project team communications take place. Ensures purpose and content of the Quality Management Plan.
  • Promotes and participates in company initiatives, policies, and process that create and maintain an engaged, empowered, a successful internal project team.
  • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

Desired Experience

  • 10+ years in Federal project management role required.
  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management, engineering, architecture, or related field is preferred.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must have ability to influence and convey project expectations and updates to project team, partners, and clients.
  • Ability to travel to project sites.
  • Ability to attend project-related meetings.
  • Ability to lead a cohesive project team.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office products.
  • Experience in project management software.
  • PMP and LEED-AP certification is a plus.
  • Effective client management and development skills.
  • Current membership in service organizations and participation in professional associations is preferred.
  • Proven ability to maintain excellent integrity and ethical standards within role.
