Gilbert Mechanical is a leading company in the field of mechanical and electrical services, committed to creating a safe and productive work environment. We are currently seeking a dedicated Safety Coordinator to join our team in Edina, MN. In this crucial role, you will work directly in the field, ensuring the safety and well-being of our employees while maintaining compliance with industry regulations. Strong communication skills are a necessity to work effectively with other team members as well as owners and contractors.

Responsibilities

As a Safety Coordinator at Gilbert Mechanical, your primary focus will be on-site safety and compliance. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Prepare and modify various documents, including presentations, reports, drafts, memos, and emails, to communicate safety-related information effectively.
  • Create and maintain spreadsheets for various projects using Microsoft Excel to track and manage safety-related data.
  • Travel to various job sites throughout the MN area, assisting in conducting site safety inspections to document deficiencies and track leading and lagging indicators.
  • Assist in conducting accident/incident investigations and prepare comprehensive documentation for analysis and improvement.
  • Collaborate with project management to conduct safety orientations and onboard employees, ensuring they are well-versed in safety protocols.
  • Post and keep all required safety documents and literature up to date at job sites.
  • Provide valuable administrative support to management to facilitate efficient safety processes.

Qualifications:

  • Ideally, 1-3 years of experience in construction safety, demonstrating a solid understanding of safety protocols.
  • A 2 or 4-year college degree in an occupational health and safety discipline is preferred, showcasing your commitment to safety.

Successful candidates will possess:

  • While not required, experience working with a union workforce is advantageous.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Outlook, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to recognize onsite risk factors and take appropriate stop-work actions when necessary.
  • A clear understanding of Gilbert Mechanical's mission and values, and a commitment to upholding them in your role.
  • Ability to lift up to 30lbs, climb 4-6 flights of stairs daily, and walk continuously for up to 60 minutes during site inspections.
  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively as part of a team.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills are essential for conveying safety information effectively.
  • Exceptional organizational skills with keen attention to detail, enabling you to prioritize and manage multiple tasks seamlessly.

Base salary: $60k–$85k per year.
