Plumbing Engineer Intern Fall 2025

(Full-time, In-office) Position will begin in October and go through the Fall term. Dates are flexible with school calendar.  Our hope is that the co-op students that are hired will do multiple co-op rotations with CMTA with possible consideration for full time employment upon graduation.

 

CMTA is seeking a Plumbing Engineer Intern to gain hands-on experience with our design and engineering teams! This internship offers exposure to real-world engineering projects and the opportunity to collaborate with dynamic groups within CMTA.

 

Responsibilities

  • Assist engineers in developing plumbing design concepts
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and project documents to support plumbing system layouts and design decisions.
  • Support engineers with calculations, modeling, and coordination of plumbing systems for new construction and renovation projects.
  • Assist with code compliance research and documentation.
  • Participate in site visits, job walks, and project meetings.
  • Gain project management exposure through collaboration with design teams.

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Architectural Engineering, preferably a sophomore (2nd year) or junior (3rd year).
  • Strong interest in Building Systems Mechanical Engineering.
  • AutoCAD and Revit experience preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team setting.
  • Ability to work full-time in the Lafayette, CA office throughout the co-op term.
  • Ability to travel locally for job site inspections, field work, etc.
