We’re seeking a skilled Design Engineer to support healthcare and infrastructure projects from our Long Beach or Irvine offices.

 

Employment Type: Full-time

Work Schedule: Hybrid — 3 days in-office, 2 days remote

Salary Range: $122,740-156,000 Based on Experience

Career Level: Mid to Senior

Location: Long Beach, CA or Irvine, CA

 

General Responsibilities

As a Plumbing Design Engineer, you will independently lead and execute large-scale plumbing and mechanical design projects in the healthcare market. You’ll apply advanced engineering concepts, manage project budgets, and mentor junior engineers. You’ll also contribute to business development and construction administration efforts.

Design & Technical Leadership

  • Apply advanced engineering concepts to solve complex plumbing and mechanical design challenges
  • Perform complex engineering and economic calculations and modeling
  • Troubleshoot operating systems and develop specifications for large projects
  • Prepare construction estimates, including subconsultant scopes
  • Develop large and complex reports and peer review major projects
  • Project Management & Collaboration
  • Manage large projects involving other design staff
  • Provide direction and mentorship to Designers and Design Engineers
  • Attend job walks and prepare proposals for small to large projects
  • Run construction meetings, review submittals, and produce punch lists and meeting reports

Position Requirements

  • Bachelor of Mechanical Engineering or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or similar (preferred)
  • California P.E. or CPD registration (preferred)
  • P.E. registration in other states is a plus
  • Strong Healthcare and PM experience is required

Working Knowledge

  • California Plumbing Code
  • National Plumbing Code
  • California Energy Code
  • Strong knowledge of HCAI codes and standards
  • NFPA-99
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Bluebeam
  • Revit
  • AutoCAD (a plus)
