Payroll Project Manager (Remote)

Job Summary:

  • Project Manage for payroll team implementations of new M&A businesses into existing ERP and HRIS systems
  • Project Manage for payroll team implementations of existing businesses into new or upgraded ERP and HRIS systems
  • Drive automation within the payroll team by partnering with the payroll and IT teams to deliver quality solutions in a timely manner
  • Serve as primary point of contact for finance for general ledger data feeds between payroll and finance
  • Assist the Director of Payroll in validating or establishing payroll audits and controls
  • Assist the payroll team in documenting processes and identifying opportunities for improvement or automation
  • Provide leadership to support and execute business process-related goals
  • Work with departments and users of the systems to facilitate resolution of issues
  • Timely delivery of all assistance, information, and reports
  • Troubleshooting and support for all application issues
  • Coordinate with the appropriate team(s) and or integrator(s) to resolve application related issues
  • Provide professional and technical coaching, mentoring, and development plans
  • Develop technical reports, metrics, and specifications for trend analysis and remediation
  • Submit weekly summaries of progress and deliverables to team members
  • Communicate and gather requirements for deliverables
  • Temporarily supervise employees and payroll processes when other payroll managers are on PTO

Required Skills:

  • Strong written and verbal technical communication skills
  • Eagerness and ability to learn new technologies
  • Strong troubleshooting and resolution skills
  • Strong customer focus with a positive attitude
  • Application Management experience with ERP, HRIS Payroll Systems
  • Knowledgeable of payroll law across multiple states
  • Heavy Excel experience: reports; data analysis, build/write formulae and test data
  • Ability to work with IT during implementations to guide them and ensure system is setup appropriately for payroll
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office 365 products
  • Strong influencing and communication skills
  • Possess a sense of urgency to address critical technical issues
  • Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team to resolve issues
  • Ability to manage and multi-task assigned tasks
  • Flexibility to work off-hours and weekends when required
  • The ability to exercise best practices and decision making with regards to systems development, deployment, implementation, and maintenance is required

Required Experience:

  • Bachelor's Degree in a Computer Science or an equivalent combination of training and experience
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in Multi-state Payroll with payroll law knowledge
  • Minimum of 3 years of Project Management Experience
  • Experience with managing software systems, implementations, and interfaces
  • Experience with medium to large scale projects and software implementations
  • Heavy experience with Excel, data analysis, build/write formulae and test data

Additional Skills Preferred:

  • Software development and testing experience
  • Experience or knowledge of DayForce, Sage, Deltek, Spectrum Systems
  • Business Intelligence and analytics experience
  • General knowledge of query writing, and report development processes, techniques, and concepts
  • Experience with union payroll
  • Experience with Microsoft Fabric
  • Experience with building Power BI reports
  • Supervisory experience
