Position Overview:

Legence is hiring a Payroll Implementation Manager who will manage the end-to-end implementation lifecycle (discovery, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support) for our payroll function. The ideal candidate will have experience configuring payroll systems, leading payroll implementations, and training payroll teams on new systems.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Project Management: Lead the end-to-end implementation lifecycle (discovery, configuration, testing, deployment, and post-go-live support) for the payroll team.
  • Business Requirement Gathering: Analyze business needs to configure HR, payroll, and tax systems appropriately.
  • System Configuration: Set up payroll modules, pay codes, tax configurations, and company structures within the software.
  • Data Migration & Validation: Oversee the migration of union rates from legacy systems, ensuring accuracy and reconciling figures.
  • Data interfaces: Collaborate with other teams to design, develop, and test data interfaces between systems.
  • Documentation: Create or modify work instructions and metrics for payroll team that are a result of system implementations.
  • Training & Support: Train payroll team on the new system and provide support through the first few pay cycles.
  • Compliance Management: Ensure all system setups comply with federal, state, and local payroll, tax, and labor laws.

Desired Experience and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in a Computer Science or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
  • 3+ years of Project Management experience in a union payroll environment.
  • Proven experience in payroll processing and direct experience with payroll system implementations.
  • Experience with managing software systems, implementations, and interfaces; Experience or knowledge of Dayforce, Sage, Deltek, and/or Spectrum is preferred.
  • Experience with medium to large scale projects and software implementations.
  • Heavy experience with Excel and data analysis.
  • Proficiency in HRIS and ERP systems (e.g., ADP, Dayforce, Workday, Sage, Spectrum) and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel for data manipulation.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects, timelines, and deliverables simultaneously.
  • Excellent communication skills for leading meetings, conducting training, and providing status updates. Ability to influence team members in best practices.
  • Ability to exercise best practices and decision making with regards to system development, deployment, implementation, and maintenance.
  • Experience collaborating with a cross functional team including Operations, HRIS, IT to drive projects towards a successful completion.
  • Availability to work off-hours and weekends when required.
  • Possess a sense of urgency to address critical technical issues.
