Junior Estimator

Seeking a Junior Estimator for dynamic team in NYC, requiring 1-2 years' experience, with frequent travel to tri-state area projects.


Title: Junior Estimator 

Level: Entry - Mid Level

Location: Office Based in New York City with weekly site visits to projects in Brooklyn, Northern New Jersey and Connecticut

Reports to:  Estimators and Director of Construction

 

Position Overview

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Junior Estimator to join our dynamic team in New York City. This is an excellent opportunity for someone with 1-2 years of experience in construction estimating to further develop their skills in a fast-paced environment.

 

You will work for clients like NBC Universal, Disney, NBC Sports, and A+E Networks. The role requires travel to jobsites throughout New York City, Northern New Jersey and Connecticut but the majority of the time will be spent in the New York City office.

 

Role Responsibilities

As a Junior Estimator, you will assist in the preparation of cost estimates for various design-build and construction management projects, working closely with senior estimators, project managers, and the design team. Your responsibilities include assisting the team members with the following tasks:

  • Assist in the preparation of accurate and detailed construction cost estimates for a variety of projects, including residential, commercial, and mixed-use developments
  • Review architectural and engineering drawings, specifications, and other project documentation to determine the scope of work
  • Quantify material, labor, and equipment requirements
  • Collaborate with senior estimators and project managers to analyze bids from subcontractors and suppliers
  • Perform quantity take-offs using estimating software
  • Assist in preparing bid proposals, RFIs, and change orders
  • Stay updated on current market prices, material costs, and industry trends
  • Maintain organized records of estimates, proposals, and project documentation
  • Participate in project site visits to understand site conditions and potential project challenges
  • Support the development of value engineering options and cost-saving measures

 

Requirements

  

Education: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or related field

 

Experience

  • Ideally 1 year of experience in construction estimating, preferably in a design-build or construction management environment; willing to train
  • Familiarity with construction documents, plans, and specifications preferred
  • Proficiency in estimating software (such as ProCore, Bluebeam, or similar) preferred and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, etc.)
  • Knowledge of the New York City construction market is a plus

Salary Starting: $70,000 - 90,000
