At Legence and our Business Units, we believe in the power of our people and that our employees are our most valuable asset. The HR Generalist plays a crucial role in fostering this belief by supporting the implementation of HR strategies and procedures across our business unit. Reporting directly to the HR Business Partner, the HR Generalist collaborates with internal and external stakeholders and acts as a bridge to ensure the HR function operates smoothly and efficiently by helping to create a positive, productive, and empowering environment for our employees. This role is 100% office-based and is in San Jose, California, supporting Therma, an industry-leading mechanical contracting company under the Legence brand, which represents approximately 1,400 union and non-union employees.   

Key Accountabilities:

  • Assist in the implementation of Legence's HR strategies and initiatives, ensuring alignment with our overall business strategy.
  • Partner with the HRBP and TA team in the recruitment and selection process and ensure recruitment and onboarding experience embodies Legence’s and the Business Unit’s values.
  • Support the performance management and development of our employees by effectively partnering with the HRBP and the TD team in the roll out and management of development initiatives including Succession Planning, Employee Engagement, and Performance Management and Development while identifying training needs, and assisting in coordinating training programs.
  • Identify employee relations issues and work with the HRBP to address issues with professionalism, empathy and efficiency, while working towards timely and satisfactory resolutions.
  • Manage the maintenance of HR records and files in compliance with legal requirements, including personnel files, performance review documentation, and recruitment records.
  • Keep up to date on federal, state, and local employment laws and regulations and help to ensure compliance.
  • Assist in the roll-out of Legence employee policies and procedures, ensuring their consistent application across the business unit.
  • Participate in the development of department goals, objectives, and systems, embodying Legence's commitment to continuous improvement.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Ability to handle sensitive information with discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Proficiency in the complete Microsoft Office suite of applications

Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience working in an HR environment
  • Working knowledge of multiple human resource disciplines including compensation & benefits, employee relations, training & development, talent acquisition, HR compliance, etc.
  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field strongly preferred.
