Position Summary
The HR Coordinator will play an important role in supporting a positive employee experience and keeping day-to-day HR operations running smoothly. This position is ideal for a detail-oriented, proactive professional who enjoys supporting people, managing HR processes, and contributing to a collaborative, team-focused environment. The HR Coordinator will be involved throughout the employee lifecycle, including onboarding, employee support, compliance, records management, and HR initiatives. Key Responsibilities

  • Coordinate new hire onboarding activities, including pre-employment activities, paperwork preparation, orientation sessions, and assistance with benefits enrollment.
  • Responsible for the I-9 and E-Verify process, including initial entry, audits, and re-verifications.
  • Facilitate background and security checks for employees requiring access to secure project sites.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date employee records, ensuring compliance with company policies and regulations.
  • Process employee changes, including promotions, transfers, and terminations, in the HRIS system.
  • Handle employee inquiries and escalate complex issues to the HR Manager as needed.
  • Prepare HR-related reports and presentations for management as required.
  • Support HR projects and initiatives, such as employee engagement programs and performance management processes.
  • Assist in the implementation and enforcement of HR policies and procedures.
  • Ensure compliance with labor laws, regulations, and company policies in all HR-related activities.
  • Maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive employee information with discretion.

Essential Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • 2+ years proven experience as an HR Coordinator or similar role is preferred.
  • Familiarity with HRIS systems and proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Knowledge of state and federal labor laws and HR best practices.
  • Strong attention to detail; highly organized, methodical, and results-driven.
  • Excellent analytical, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet competing deadlines.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information with integrity.
  • Flexibility to adapt to a fast-paced and changing work environment.
  • Positive and collaborative attitude with a focus on teamwork.

Additional Information

  • This is an in-office position based in Beltsville, Maryland.
  • Typical working hours for this role are 8 AM to 4 PM. 
  • Salary Range: $26-$28 per hour (depending on experience).
