Job Summary 

VarcoMac is seeking an Estimator to join the team!  To fulfill this Estimator role, a high level of knowledge and/or experience in commercial Electrical estimating and construction projects is required.  The Candidate must be able to independently put together timely and accurate project estimates for a variety of project types. Project types span smaller fit-outs to complex, multi-million builds exceeding 100 million in value.  Projects range in industry from data centers, biopharmaceutical, semi-conductor, typical office and/or labs, and light industrial.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Manage, organize, and communicate bid documentation for an assigned bid. 
  • Read, understand, and assign cost to all bid related documents (drawings, specs, instructions to bidders).
  • Perform detailed take off and unit cost estimates.
  • Perform pricing breakouts as required by customers.
  • Request/Obtain/Evaluate Vendor pricing.
  • Electronically maintain records of all working documents and data to back up estimates.


Qualifications and Requirements:

  • Excellent communicator and problem-solver.
  • Competency with computerized estimating and digital take off software.. experience in Conest is a plus
  • Ability to estimate both design build and plan/spec projects.
  • Ability to read, interpret and understand mechanical drawings/prints and specifications.
  • Proficient with MS Office Suite and specifically Excel
  • Analytical review and reporting, detail oriented with excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to work and produce a deliverable to a deadline.


Education and Experience:

  • Minimum 3-5 years of proven successful experience preparing estimates for commercial projects.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Construction Management is a plus.
  • Commercial MEP estimating experience is a plus.
