Electrical PreFab Business Manager

Department: Operations / Prefabrication
Reports To: Director of Operations, VP of Operations, or similar leadership role
Location: Office / Prefab Facility with regular field and shop interaction
FLSA Status: Exempt

Role Summary

The Electrical PreFab Business Manager is responsible for leading and scaling all prefabrication operations within the electrical construction business. This role oversees business strategy, production planning, process optimization, financial performance, staffing, safety compliance, and cross‑department collaboration to ensure the prefab program delivers maximum value to field operations and overall project execution. The Manager ensures the department delivers high‑quality, consistent, and cost‑effective assemblies that increase labor efficiency, improve safety, and support predictable project outcomes.


Key Responsibilities

  • Leadership & Team Management
    • Direct, mentor, and evaluate prefab shop teams including foremen, assemblers, technicians, and coordinators.
    • Partner with HR for hiring, performance management, onboarding, and training of personnel.
    • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, accountability, and safety.
  • Prefabrication Operations Oversight
    • Oversee end‑to‑end prefab production: planning, coordination, assembly, quality control, and delivery.
    • Ensure all prefabricated electrical assemblies meet project specifications, company standards, and industry codes.
    • Develop and maintain production schedules for all prefab builds, ensuring on‑time delivery.
    • Collaborate with project managers, estimators, BIM/VDC teams, and field leadership to identify prefabrication opportunities early in the project lifecycle.
  • Business Performance & Financial Management
    • Track labor, material usage, production hours, and budget adherence for all prefab workstreams.
    • Provide pricing and estimating support to project managers for prefab assemblies.
    • Evaluate ROI of prefab initiatives and drive financial predictability through improved workflows and strategic planning.
  • Warehouse, Inventory & Material Logistics
    • Manage warehouse operations including material handling, tool management, organization, and equipment upkeep.
    • Oversee material procurement for all prefab efforts and maintain appropriate inventory levels to support production.
    • Coordinate shipping and delivery of assemblies to meet project timelines.
  • Quality Control & Safety
    • Implement and enforce quality control standards, conducting routine inspections of assemblies and processes.
    • Ensure all prefab operations comply with OSHA and company safety standards, maintaining a safe and clean workspace at all times.
  • Innovation, Process Improvement & Lean Practices
    • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and standardize assemblies across projects.
    • Partner with BIM/VDC leadership to develop new prefab strategies, concepts, and productized repeatable assemblies.
    • Stay current with industry trends, technologies, and best practices to enhance prefab capabilities and competitive advantage.

Salary Range: $110,000-$115,000 (depending on experience)
