Position Overview:

CMTA, a Legence company, is hiring a Construction Administrator in our Charlotte office. The Construction Administrator’s primary responsibility is to ensure a smooth and successful fulfillment of the design contract documents after the design phase. A strong Construction Administrator will have experience with Mechanical, Electrical, and Plumbing systems across multiple sectors, and will also have strong communication skills (both verbal and written).  This person will be the face of CMTA during the construction phase of the project.

The Construction Administrator’s support team consists of administrative staff in the office, other construction managers, engineers, design team members, and any other team members they need to use. During heavy construction, the Construction Administrator will be on site frequently. During other project periods, the Construction Administrator may not have to be on the construction site and may work in the office to fill other construction related tasks.

Key Responsibilities:

Pre-Construction:

  • Review project drawings and specifications for scope, constructability, and to become familiar with the project prior to entering the construction phase
  • Attend the pre-bid and design related meetings
  • Review and provide feedback on Contractor bid pricing as desired by the client

Construction:

  • Attend construction kickoff and progress meetings
  • Assist with review of MEP submittals
  • Assist with review of RFIs
  • Conduct site visits and provide field reports documenting progress for the Owner or Client
  • Maintain an action list of deficiencies and back-check items when resolved
  • Observe and approve field testing (pressure testing, NFPA, etc)
  • Review schedule of values/pay applications
  • Review change orders and provide responses to RFI generated during construction, in conjunction with support from the Design Engineer of record
  • Prepare project punch lists, follow-up visits, and final inspection for close out
  • Assist with commissioning effort when needed to ensure operation of the MEP systems is per the design

Post Construction:

  • Review contractor closeout per the contract documents
  • Review O&M Manuals and As-Builts
  • Conduct warranty inspections

Desired Experience:

  • 3+ years of experience in a Construction Administrator or similar role
  • Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or Electrical Engineering degree preferred or relevant Project Management experience with a mechanical or electrical contracting company
  • CxA or CCP accreditation is a plus but not required
  • Proficiency with Bluebeam and Microsoft Office Suite is preferred
