Position Overview
The Commercial Service Division is seeking a highly motivated and strategic Commercial Service Manager to lead and grow its service operations. This role is responsible for owning and scaling the division’s performance across revenue, profitability, and operational excellence. The Commercial Service Manager will drive strategic growth initiatives, lead technology platform implementation (BuildOps and Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum), and oversee customer relationships and financial performance, while partnering closely with executive leadership and field operations. This position is accountable for the division’s P&L, customer portfolio, operational systems, and long-term growth strategy, and requires coordination with executive leadership, field teams, service office staff, sales teams, and external customers to ensure success.

Key Responsibilities

  • Client & Stakeholder Engagement
    • Serve as senior relationship owner for key commercial service accounts
    • Conduct proactive customer business reviews to ensure retention and satisfaction
    • Lead escalation management for at-risk accounts
    • Develop new relationships with general contractors, property managers, facility directors, and building owners
    • Partner with internal sales and estimating teams on bids, renewals, and service expansions
  • Design, Technical, or Operational Execution
    • Own and manage the Commercial Service Division P&L, including revenue, gross margin, and EBITDA
    • Set and execute division strategy using data-driven decision-making
    • Lead implementation and adoption of BuildOps as the primary field service management platform
    • Drive migration from Key2Act/Wennsoft to Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum
    • Oversee system integration via Trimble App Xchange to ensure accurate data flow
    • Build reporting infrastructure and KPI dashboards to guide operational performance
  • Project & Cross-Discipline Coordination
    • Partner with the Service Labor Manager to align field execution and operational outcomes
    • Collaborate with sales, estimating, and operations teams on growth initiatives and service delivery
    • Coordinate across office functions including dispatch, billing, and administrative teams
    • Support contract management including service agreements, renewals, and pipeline tracking
  • Documentation & Communication
    • Lead monthly financial reviews with variance analysis and forward planning
    • Track and report on service performance metrics, compliance, and overtime trends
    • Drive customer health scoring and reporting frameworks
    • Maintain structured communication cadence with internal leadership and operations teams
  • Leadership & Resource Management
    • Lead service office personnel including Service Office Manager, dispatch, billing, and admin staff
    • Establish performance standards and hold teams accountable to results
    • Maintain weekly operational cadence with the Service Labor Manager
    • Support resource planning, hiring strategy, and scaling of the division
    • Lead change management efforts during system implementations

Desired Skills and Experience

  • Education & Credentials
    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Engineering, Construction Management, or related field, or equivalent experience. Relevant certifications or industry credentials preferred.
  • Experience
    • 10+ years in commercial HVAC or mechanical service industry
    • 5+ years in a service management role with full P&L ownership
    • Proven track record of revenue growth and margin improvement
    • Experience working in a union (UA) or similar CBA environment
    • Demonstrated success leading technology implementations (FSM or ERP systems)
    • Experience working with multidisciplinary teams and client-facing operations
  • Technical & Professional Skills
    • Strong financial and operational acumen with a data-driven leadership approach
    • Deep experience with BuildOps including dispatch, work orders, and PM agreements (highly preferred)
    • Familiarity with Trimble Viewpoint Spectrum (service module, billing, reporting)
    • Experience with integration platforms such as Trimble App Xchange preferred
    • Proficiency in data analytics and reporting tools (e.g., Power BI)
    • Strong communication skills with the ability to engage both technical and business stakeholders

Salary Range: $140,000 to $175,000 depending on experience
