San Jose, CA, Full-Time in-office

Therma is seeking a detail-oriented individual who possesses the ability to think critically and work through long-term projects as well as routine responsibilities while applying GAAP, following Company policies and working with other team members including the Operations Department individuals. The individual we seek should have the ability to identify internal control gaps and recommend solutions.  

A successful candidate should possess the ability to:

  • See challenges as opportunities to make improvements and develop a team;
  • Be detail-oriented and deadline/results/accuracy driven;
  • Have a controls and risk-based mind set while executing daily, monthly, quarterly tasks

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the fixed asset subsidiary ledger as well as the reconciliation of the subsidiary ledger to the general ledger and prepare the monthly reconciliation workbook as well as the CIP workbook – both must be external auditor acceptable quality. Propose and record journal entries when required.
  • Work with the Operations Team on proper capitalization of leasehold improvements including the timing of when they are being placed into service.
  • Implement fixed asset procedures
  • that have been proposed but yet to be implemented.
  • Review the appropriateness of categorization, as well as capitalization of the items that are purchased as fixed assets.
  • Be the key individual to review and clean up the Goods Received Not Invoiced “GRNI” liability account monthly. Work with the Procurement Team and the Accounts Payable Team to identify incorrect transactions in the GRNI account.
  • Meet 5-day close deadline.
  • Work with external auditors for responsible sections.
  • Prepare the Unsecured Property Tax return annually.
  • Perform other duties as required including manual reviews for SOX compliance purposes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, CPA or 7 or more years of professional accounting experience with focus on financial reporting and analysis.
  • Proficiency in MS Office, especially Excel.
  • Prior experience working in the construction industry preferred but not required.
  • Publicly traded company preferred
  • Strong understanding of GAAP and financial regulations.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage workflows.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
  • Great analytical, critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
  • Strong time management, organizational skills and adaptable and capable of working in fast-paced environments.
  • Experience going through ERP conversion preferred but not required
  • Positive attitude, good judgment and strong sense of responsibility and ownership.

Compensation: $120k-$145k, depending on experience
