Horton Plaza Campus Embraces Sustainability with A.O. Reed & Co.

Horton Plaza Campus, once a bustling hub in downtown San Diego, partnered with A.O. Reed & Co. to revitalize their campus and infuse sustainability into the new design.

A.O. Reed & Co., as the mechanical and plumbing contractor, supported the design and construction of the upgraded 1,400,00 sq. ft. campus, which is pursuing LEED Platinum and WELL Platinum certifications.

Customer Needs

Reimagining the campus potential, Horton Plaza Campus aimed to:

  • Upgrade office, retail, and restaurant spaces
  • Implement energy-efficient and sustainable solutions
Key Strategies Implemented

A.O. Reed & Co. designed and constructed the central plant, featuring:

  • Two 1,200-ton chillers
  • A 200-ton air-cooled chiller
  • CHW pumps
  • Cooling towers
  • CDW pumps
  • A boiler
  • HHW pumps
  • New controls

The retail and office spaces were upgraded with modern systems including:
