Join a respected leader in boiler solutions! San Jose Boiler Works is seeking a motivated and technically skilled Outside Sales Engineer to help expand our presence across Northern California. Job Responsibilities:

  • Cultivate and maintain strong, long-term relationships with contractors, engineers, and facility managers.
  • Generate new business by identifying, contacting, and developing prospects in assigned territories.
  • Visit client sites regularly to assess needs, provide equipment recommendations, and ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Accurately prepare and present sales proposals, quotes, and equipment selections to customers, ensuring clear communication of project scope, pricing, and scheduling.
  • Collaborate with vendors to arrange equipment purchases and ensure timely delivery.
  • Stay current with industry trends and emerging boiler technologies to provide up-to-date solutions for customers.
  • Attend sales meetings, complete administrative tasks, and manage CRM records in-office 1–2 days per week.
  • Participate in ongoing training to strengthen product knowledge and sales effectiveness.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • Thorough knowledge of California mechanical codes and emissions regulations.
  • Strong understanding of boiler systems, including boilers, burners, controls, and related equipment.
  • Ability to assist with boiler sizing, application engineering, and equipment specification to meet customer needs.
  • Proven track record in technical sales or solution-based selling within the HVAC or mechanical equipment industry.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel), CRM systems, and basic familiarity with factory pricing/configuration tools.
  • Comfortable working independently in a field-based role with occasional in-office days.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record required.
